This afternoon our school had to briefly place students in an instructional hold due to a medical emergency involving a student. An ambulance was called, the family of the individual involved was notified, and all students were safe and secure in their classrooms. In an instructional hold, students and staff remain in their current classrooms, but normal instruction and activities continue. We appreciate the quick response of our staff and emergency personnel, as well as the understanding and support of our school community. A portion of Bayou Blue Elementary has been evacuated due to a gas smell. Out of an abundance of caution, some students have been relocated to the cafeteria. The gas has been shut off, and the gas company and the fire department have been dispatched to assess the situation.
