A colorful Halloween-themed flyer with a purple border and a spider web in the top left corner. The title reads “LET’S GET SPOOKY!” in large purple letters. Below, in orange and green text, it says “Students are allowed to wear their Halloween costumes.” The date “October 31, 2025” is in bold purple letters on the right. The flyer lists rules in black text: Masks, face paint, weapons, swords, or any other props are NOT allowed. Ensure your child can easily get in and out of their costume for restroom use. If not wearing a costume, Halloween shirts with uniform bottoms are acceptable. Costumes must be school appropriate (no spaghetti straps, short skirts). At the bottom right are cartoon characters dressed in Halloween costumes: a mummy, pumpkin, skeleton, and witch.

11:30 a.m. UPDATE

The gas company and the fire department have given the all clear, and all students and staff have returned to their classrooms. Everyone is safe, and the school has returned to normal operations. We appreciate the quick response of our staff and emergency personnel, as well as the understanding and support of our school community. Thank you for your continued trust in us to keep your children safe.

***

A portion of Bayou Blue Elementary has been evacuated due to a gas smell. Out of an abundance of caution, some students have been relocated to the cafeteria. The gas has been shut off, and the gas company and the fire department have been dispatched to assess the situation. All students and staff are safe, and we will keep you updated on the situation as more information is available. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

National Principals Month: Tina Guidry

To celebrate National Principals Month, we’re sharing some fun facts about our amazing school administrators. Today you’ll learn more about Mrs. Tina Guidry, principal of Bayou Blue Elementary School.

Here’s the inside scoop on Mrs. Guidry:

🐔 She’s been a principal for 13 years.
🐔 She says the most rewarding part of being a principal is it broadened the scope of impact she was able to have as a teacher with her students to being able to have that impact with staff, parents, community, and other colleagues in the school system by being able to help, encourage, show support and compassion, guide and lead, build relationships, and push for growth and progress, never letting anyone give up in making their mark on the world.
🐔 English was her favorite subject in school because she loved her teacher. “She made learning poetry and reading literature and talking about themes, and writing meaningful essays so mesmerizing that I wanted to be just like her, so I became a high school English teacher.”
🐔 Her favorite school lunch is sausage and potato stew.
🐔 Traveling around the world is on her bucket list.
🐔 Outside of work she loves hanging out by her pool with her family and her dog and cat, dancing, singing, watching movies and enjoying coffee from all the different coffee spots.
🐔 Fun Fact: Most people don't know that she’s from Baton Rouge originally and loves LSU. “I bleed purple and gold!”
